Piper McBride

Personal Information

  • Name: Piper E. McBride
  • Age: 36
  • Blood: Muggle Born
  • Birth date: May 6th
  • Place of Birth: New Castle, New South Wales, Australia
  • Occupation: Ministry Auror

Physical Appearance

Well-versed in the art of disguise, it would be incredibly difficult to pick Piper out of crowd, that is, if she doesn't want you to anyway. However, even when she's not blending into the general public (be it wizard or muggle), she doesn't exactly stand out. Her only distinct characteristic seems to be her large eyes that hold a sort of mischief in them.

  • Height: 5'3
  • Weight: 114 lbs
  • Distinguishing Features: Nothing in particular, unless you count the impish look in her eyes.

McBride was always just a little wicked. She was never enough of a troublemaker to be labeled as such in school, but she did her fair share of rule breaking and usually just for the hell of it. Piper is a little derisive, but usually in a playful manner, even if the target is in a foul mood (which usually only spurs her on). She's terribly loyal to her friends. So, should someone harm them or even insult them, Piper's usually the first to overreact. McBride is usually a good judge of character and almost seems to have a sort of "sixth sense" for spotting bad seeds. It's not an exact science, but one could say her abilities are at least 85% accurate in most cases. If she gets the feeling that someone "isn't quite right", they're usually her first suspect in regards to a "case".

Notable Skills

Piper is a magnificent card player. She can pretty well beat someone at any card game, though presumably because she cheats. But she's very good at reading faces which makes her a hit at Poker. One of her favorite muggle sports is Football, so she's reasonably good at Flag football (since playing tackle football at her size means certain death). She's also pretty fair at playing the Piano, but you couldn't exactly call it a skill since she's still not very good at it compared to others. Piper was never able to perfect the art of mixing potions, so she became very good with disguising herself. And if Piper doesn't want you to see her… you won't.

Magical Information

Seeing as how her soul purpose in life was to become an Auror, Piper is best at Defense Against the Dark Arts and spectacular at Charms. She's a little less so at Potions, Herbology, and Transfiguration (which took a great deal of study to master in her seventh year). But she's more useful on the field than most and her broom work is fantastic. Thanks to her days as a Chaser for Gryffindor, McBride is also an accomplished flier and she nearly went pro. But being an Auror pretty well trumped quidditch altogether. She also happens to be quite an accomplished Occlumens. Although partially because the requirements for being an Auror require being fairly talented at the subject. But thanks to some tutoring from a good friend, she became quite skilled. And last but not least, Piper is an expert duelist. She has won all three tournaments entered and several one on one rematches with disgruntled losers, much to their chagrin.

Brief History

Her mother, an Aboriginal, and her father, a third generation Australian, met in the year 2050 (in the earlier half of the Auror War) and were married in 2054. On May 6th, 2056 they were happy to announce the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Piper Evangeline McBride. Exactly eleven years later (the year after the end of the lengthy conflict that was the Auror War) she received a letter from one Kavelridge Academy for Witchy Blokes (which was far less wordy and elegant as the Hogwarts Acceptance Letter). Her parents were thrilled and had no qualms with allowing her to attend the school, providing her with every thing she needed to do so.

Piper was prone to the occasional bout of mischief, but never anything so severe as to get her expelled. She played the chaser for her house's team at Kavelridge beginning in her third year. In her fourth, after learning much about the Auror War and becoming completely fascinated by it, McBride made the decision that an Auror was exactly what she wanted to become. So, with great determination (and some serious studying thanks to a fellow Housemate, she passed the required O.W.L.s with flying colors. The summer before her 7th year saw the Mcbrides moving to Great Britain and transferred to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A private sorting put her in Gryffindor before the Sorting Hat even touched her head. She joined the Gryffindor Quidditch Team as their Chaser, although the team never made it anywhere during the season. We'll chalk that up to poor Captaining skills, though and not the new Chaser. With the assistance of a Seventh Year Ravenclaw, she met the requirements for her studies in courses that were not Charms or DADA and received some tutoring in the way of Occlumency and Legilimency. She never became as adept at Legilimency as her tutor, but did exceedingly well with Occlumency and later became a very skilled Occlumens.

She joined her Ravenclaw friend in becoming an Auror and fought alongside him in numerous battles and assignments. After his unfortunate "accident" in the country, she allowed him his privacy and respected his wish not to be bothered with Ministry Aurors from that time on. It has currently been five years since she's had contact with Audric Benoit. Piper wasn't recently requested to investigate the curious goings on at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which will, inevitably, put her in contact with her Former Auror friend once more.
